PNIE (Psycho Neuro Immuno Endocrinology)
Psycho Neuro Immuno Endocrinology or PNIE is the branch of integrative medicine that studies the bi-directional communication between the neuroendocrine and immune systems and its effect on health.
Numerous studies and research in PNIE have conclusively demonstrated that biopsychosocial factors such as stress, negative emotions or depression can have a negative impact on immune health.
The PNIE approach is effective for metabolic based diseases such as metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, overweight or obesity; chronic fatigue syndrome; inflammatory based diseases such as autoimmunities, digestive dysfunctions, allergies, fibromyalgia among others; or neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson, depression,… in which the relationship with the digestive system and the state of the intestinal microbiota is fundamental.
What is holistic medicine?
Integrative and holistic medicine is that which integrates the knowledge of allopathic medicine (conventional medicine) with that of biological, naturopathic or complementary medicine.
In this way, it benefits from a therapeutic approach that is more respectful of the organism whenever possible, without losing the valuable contributions of allopathic or conventional medicine, such as surgeries, cancer treatment with antineoplastic or the use of antibiotics and other medications, when these are really necessary.
